The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has enrolled 2,296 applicants in the first six operational days of its Special Passport Intervention Exercise in the United Kingdom, with the Manchester Centre recording the higher turnout.
The Service Public Relations Officer, DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, saying the exercise, which commenced on September 7, 2026, had recorded sustained turnout and steady processing of applicants with confirmed appointments at the London and Manchester centres.
Akinlabi said a total of 587 applicants were processed at the London Centre, while 1,709 were enrolled at the Manchester Centre during the first six operational days.
He said the daily enrolment figures across the two centres stood at 245 applicants on September 7, 401 on September 8, 396 on September 9, 429 on September 10, 406 on September 11 and 419 on September 12.
The NIS spokesman said the Comptroller-General of the Service, KN Nandap, pcc, fsmn, undertook a working visit to the special passport intervention centres in Manchester and London as part of efforts to ensure effective oversight and quality service delivery.
According to Akinlabi, the visit enabled Nandap to assess the exercise firsthand, interface with members of the Nigerian community and ensure that the intervention delivers “efficient, responsive and seamless passport services” to applicants.
He said the exercise was continuing at both centres, assuring applicants with confirmed intervention appointments that they would be attended to.
Akinlabi further disclosed that passport production and dispatch for applicants who had already been enrolled had commenced and were progressing steadily.
He said the NIS appreciated the patience, understanding and cooperation of members of the Nigerian community in the United Kingdom throughout the exercise.
The Service spokesman urged applicants to continue cooperating with immigration officials on the ground to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of the intervention.
