Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has reportedly died after battling cancer.
Hassan, who earned widespread recognition for his performances in Yoruba-language films and his versatility in portraying different characters, was said to have died less than two months before his 67th birthday.
His daughter, Kira Taiwo, reportedly confirmed his death on Sunday during a live session on social media, following growing concerns and reports about the actor’s health.
The development came days after Kira revealed that her father was undergoing treatment for stage-four cancer, prompting an outpouring of support from fans, well-wishers and political figures.
Efforts had reportedly been made to secure medical treatment for the veteran actor. Among those who offered financial assistance was the Ogun State All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Adeola Olamilekan, popularly known as Yayi.
Hassan’s reported death marks a significant loss to the Yoruba film industry, where he built a reputation over the years for his distinctive performances and enduring contribution to Nollywood.
