The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has debunked reports alleging security threats at some centres ahead of the 2026 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations, describing such claims as unfounded and misleading.
In a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the Force assured candidates, parents, and stakeholders of comprehensive security arrangements nationwide.

“The Nigeria Police Force is aware of recent unfounded rumors circulating regarding the safety of certain centers… The NPF wishes to categorically state that these claims are without basis,” the statement said.
The Force disclosed that it had adopted proactive measures, including the deployment of both overt and covert operatives to examination centres across the country.
It further explained that the security architecture includes routine patrols, perimeter checks, and strategically positioned rapid response teams to promptly address any emerging threats.
“The Nigeria Police Force is collaborating closely with sister security agencies… Any individual or group attempting to disrupt the examination process will be swiftly identified and brought to justice,” it added.
The NPF encouraged candidates to comply with examination guidelines, arrive early at their centres, and promptly report suspicious movements or persons to security personnel.

It also cautioned the public against spreading or relying on unverified social media reports, urging them to depend on official communications from JAMB and the police.
The Force reiterated its commitment to ensuring peace, public safety, and confidence in national activities, while appreciating the cooperation of citizens and stakeholders.
