A motorist’s quick response to a suspicious sighting has helped Ogun State police arrest a suspected thief and recover a motorcycle and generator allegedly stolen in Itori.
The incident happened at about 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 25, 2026, when the motorist spotted an unregistered tricycle carrying a grey Haojue Lady motorcycle and a Firman generator, with two passengers on board, along the Onigbedu–Itori Road.
According to a statement issued on October 25 by DSP OLUSEYI B. BABASEYI, Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, Eleweran, the motorist became suspicious and alerted the police while following the tricycle towards Complex Junction, Itori, in the direction of Papalanto.
Police operatives attached to the Ewekoro Division responded to the alert and intercepted the tricycle. The two occupants reportedly tried to escape, but one of them, identified as Adam Muhammed, was arrested after a chase.
His companion escaped, and the police said efforts were underway to track him down.
The Command said preliminary investigations linked the recovered motorcycle and generator to a theft reported in Itori. Muhammed remains in custody as detectives investigate the case and work to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, praised the officers for their swift response and commended the motorist for alerting the authorities.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities, noting that information from members of the public can help police intervene before criminal acts succeed.
Ojajuni also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive patrols and the protection of lives and property across Ogun State.
