Troops of the Operation HADIN KAI have foiled a planned terrorist bomb attack near an Internally Displaced Persons, IDP, camp in the North-East while also recovering arms and ammunition during intensified clearance operations.
The military disclosed the development in a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North East, Sani Uba.
According to the statement, the operations were conducted under Operation DESERT SANITY/VIGILANT SIEGE as troops sustained pressure on terrorist elements operating within the region.
The military revealed that troops discovered an improvised explosive device, IED, planted along a route behind the IDP camp near a military location at Ladari.
The explosive device, according to the statement, was believed to have been planted to target reinforcement teams and military vehicles responding to operations within the area.
The statement noted that Explosive Ordnance Disposal specialists safely detonated the device in-situ without casualties.
Further consolidating operational gains, troops conducting strangulation operations along the Ladari riverbanks uncovered an abandoned arms cache.
Recovered items included one Browning pistol, one locally fabricated pistol, 26 rounds of 9mm ammunition and seven cartridges.

In a separate operation, troops of Sector 3, in collaboration with operatives of the Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF, arrested a suspected terrorist identified as Umar Zacharria, 15, in Gubio town.

Preliminary investigations reportedly linked the suspect to terrorist activities along the Kareto axis where motorists have repeatedly been targeted by insurgents.
“The suspect is currently in custody for further investigation,” the statement added.
The Joint Task Force said the coordinated operations underscored the sustained military pressure aimed at denying terrorists freedom of action across the theatre of operations.
“The Joint Task Force reassures the public of its unwavering commitment to sustaining ongoing offensives aimed at dismantling terrorist networks, neutralising threats, and restoring lasting peace, security and economic stability across the North East region,” the military stated.
The military high command also commended troops for their professionalism, resilience and dedication, urging them to sustain the current operational momentum in the interest of national security and regional stability.
