The Police Public Relations Officer at the Force Headquarters Annex in Lagos, CSP Nkiruka Nwode, has strongly rejected allegations linking her to an alleged organ-harvesting syndicate, describing the claims as fabricated and misleading.
The controversy followed a statement by activist and publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, who called on the newly appointed Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to probe Nwode over an alleged connection to what he described as a police-linked organ-harvesting operation.
Sowore also alleged that Nwode worked with certain judicial actors to ensure the incarceration of a whistleblower, Nnamdi Emeh, who he claimed exposed the alleged crime.
According to him, Emeh is currently being held in a correctional facility in Awka.
The activist further urged the police leadership to halt what he described as a “sham prosecution” and instead investigate officers allegedly connected with the matter.
However, reacting to the claims, Nwode denied any involvement in such activities, stating that the allegations had previously been investigated by the Nigeria Police Force in 2023 and were found to be unsubstantiated.
She explained that the police inquiry at the time did not establish any evidence of organ harvesting or link her to any form of misconduct.
“For clarity, the Nigeria Police Force conducted a comprehensive investigation into the allegations when they surfaced in 2023. The findings showed there was no verified evidence of organ harvesting or wrongdoing connected to me,” she said.
Nwode noted that the outcome of the investigation, which cleared her of the accusations, remains part of the official records of the police.
The police spokesperson also pointed out that Sahara Reporters, which published the allegations against her, had earlier reported that the investigation did not establish any wrongdoing on her part.
She said she first became aware of the police report that cleared her through the same media platform on February 24, 2026.
Nwode further expressed concern over the use of her photograph alongside that of the accuser in online publications, describing the situation as unfair and damaging to her reputation and that of her family.
Despite the controversy, she said she remains focused on her professional duties and would not allow renewed allegations that had already been investigated to distract her.
“The facts are already on record, and anyone interested in fairness and due process can verify them. The rule of law must always prevail,” she added.
Nwode also stated that she harbours no personal resentment toward Sowore, expressing confidence that truth and fairness would ultimately prevail.
