The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM, on Thursday, 7th May 2026, received a delegation from the Police Veterans Foundation at the Force Headquarters, Abuja. The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, DIG Yesufu M.A. (Rtd).
Discussions during the visit focused on the need for formal recognition of police veterans, improved nationwide outreach, structured welfare programmes for retired officers, and the resolution of administrative challenges affecting retirees of the Nigeria Police Force.
Speaking during the engagement, the IGP commended the veterans for their enduring commitment to the growth and stability of the Force, noting that their wealth of experience remains invaluable to policing and national security.
IGP Disu further encouraged the retired senior officers to continue mentoring younger personnel while also serving as a bridge between the Force and retirees with unresolved grievances and welfare concerns.

The Inspector-General also assured the delegation that the revised Scheme of Service for police personnel is approaching final approval, stressing that officers who devoted their lives to serving the nation would not be neglected.
“Those who have served this nation will never be left behind,” the IGP assured.
