The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a domestic staff member allegedly involved in the murder of his employer, a Pentecostal bishop based in Asaba, Delta State, and the attempted sale of the cleric’s stolen Toyota Prado Jeep in Anambra State.
The Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, disclosed this on Tuesday, stating that the suspect was apprehended during an intelligence-led operation carried out by operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu.
According to the police, another suspect alleged to be the buyer of the stolen vehicle was also arrested during the operation in Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area.
The command said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, who served as the bishop’s driver and domestic staff, allegedly conspired with unidentified criminal elements to murder the cleric before fleeing with the victim’s Toyota Prado Jeep to Anambra State for disposal.

Police operatives, acting on credible intelligence, tracked and intercepted the suspects in Nkpor and successfully recovered the stolen vehicle.
The police commissioner said investigations were ongoing to arrest other members of the criminal gang and unravel the full circumstances surrounding the murder.
Although the identity of the slain bishop was not officially disclosed by the police, the command stated that he was a cleric with End-Reconciliation Ministry based in Asaba, Delta State.
Reacting to the development, CP Orutugu advised residents to exercise caution and conduct proper background checks before employing domestic staff, drivers and household workers.
He urged members of the public to properly profile and verify the identities of persons employed in their homes and establishments while remaining alert to suspicious activities and behavioural patterns.
The commissioner further reassured residents of the commitment of the command to intelligence-led policing, proactive security operations and collaboration with other security agencies in protecting lives and property across the state.
