The Anambra State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its crackdown on violent cultism and organised crime following the arrest of a suspected notorious cult executioner linked to multiple killings and kidnapping operations in Obosi community.
The development was disclosed in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, who stated that the suspect was apprehended by operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Unit, Enugwu Ukwu, on April 30, 2026.
According to Ikenga, the suspect identified as Favour Izunna, also known as “Njoku,” aged 22, is a member of the notorious Vikings Confraternity and allegedly operated as an executioner for the cult group.
The police spokesman stated that the suspect had allegedly been terrorising residents of Obosi and neighbouring communities through violent attacks, killings, and kidnapping activities.
Ikenga disclosed that following the suspect’s confession, police operatives, with operational support from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, carried out a follow-up operation at a criminal hideout in Obosi.
According to him, the operation led to the recovery of a pump-action gun, five live cartridges, one locally fabricated Beretta pistol, and seven rounds of 7.5mm live ammunition.

The police further stated that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to involvement in the gruesome murder of about five persons within Obosi community.
Ikenga, however, noted that the suspect could only clearly identify three of the alleged victims as Somtochukwu Alfred, Udechukwu Izuchukwu, and Izuchukwu Obi.
According to the statement, the suspect also confessed that some individuals allegedly sponsored and contracted him to execute targeted killings within the area.
The Command described the revelation as a major breakthrough in ongoing investigations into violent crimes and cult-related killings in the state.
Ikenga further disclosed that the suspect admitted participating in several kidnapping operations across Anambra State.
Among some of the victims allegedly linked to the suspect were Emeka Chukwuka and Chinelo Onyeka, among others yet to be identified by investigators.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Ikioye Orutugu, directed operatives to intensify efforts towards arresting other gang members and alleged sponsors currently on the run.
According to Ikenga, the Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s determination to dismantle criminal networks operating within the state and restore public confidence in security operations.
He added that investigations are still ongoing and that further developments would be communicated by the Command in due course.
The latest breakthrough comes amid intensified security operations by the Police Command against cultism, kidnapping, armed robbery, and other violent crimes across Anambra State.
