The Nigeria Police Force has concluded the second AI-POL Leadership Dialogue Workshop on advancing innovation, governance and the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in law enforcement.
DCP Anthony Okon Placid, Force Public Relations Officer, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja.

According to Placid, the workshop, which ended on June 3, 2026, brought together law enforcement leaders, technology experts and international partners to deliberate on the growing role of artificial intelligence in modern policing.
He said participants examined practical applications of AI in security operations, discussed emerging challenges associated with the adoption of new technologies and reviewed global experiences to identify strategies for strengthening policing in Nigeria.

Speaking at the event, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, said discussions at the workshop underscored the reality that artificial intelligence is already transforming law enforcement operations across the world.
According to Placid, the IGP expressed appreciation to participants, facilitators, experts and development partners for contributing to the success of the dialogue.

Disu also reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to leveraging technology and innovation in enhancing security and service delivery.
A major highlight of the workshop was a presentation based on the outcomes of the Fifth Global Meeting for AI and Law Enforcement, which identified Nigeria as a priority partner for the African AI Policing Pilot initiative.

Participants were encouraged to apply lessons learned during the workshop within their various commands and operational units.
Placid stated that the Nigeria Police Force remained committed to building safer communities through innovation, accountability and the responsible deployment of emerging technologies in policing.
