The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 13 Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs), in what it described as a merit-based exercise.
Among those elevated are seasoned crime-fighting officers, including Olohundare Moshood Jimoh and Uche Ifeanyi Henry.
The commission said the promotions followed written examinations and oral interviews conducted at its headquarters in Abuja.
According to the PSC, the list of successful officers has been forwarded to the Inspector-General of Police for implementation.
Other officers promoted to the rank of AIG are Emmanuel Ado Christopher, Joseph Eribo, Dantawaye Miller, Olarenwaju Peter Ogunlowo, Muhammad Dahiru, Dankombo Morris, Bello Shehu, Ibrahim Maikaba, Ahmed Musa, Simeon Udofia Akpanudom and Haruna Olufemi.
In the same exercise, the commission promoted 17 Deputy Commissioners of Police to Commissioners of Police, while 19 Assistant Commissioners of Police were elevated to the rank of Deputy Commissioners.
Additionally, 35 Chief Superintendents of Police were promoted to Assistant Commissioners.
The Chairman of the PSC, Hashimu Salihu Argungu, said the promotions underscore the commission’s commitment to merit, transparency and professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force.
“The promotion is not an end but an opportunity to contribute more to safeguarding lives and property,” Argungu said.
He urged the newly promoted officers to justify their elevation through dedication and commitment to national security.
