In a renewed push to strengthen border security, trade facilitation, and inter-agency collaboration, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on Monday reaffirmed its commitment to seamless cooperation with regulatory and security institutions as the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Victor Olaiya, represented the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, at the 2026 International Customs Day celebration.

The event, which also featured the launch of the Time Release Study (TRS) and the presentation of awards, was held at the Abuja Intercontinental Hotel and organised by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
The high-level gathering attracted key stakeholders from government ministries, security agencies, the private sector, and international partners, all united around the shared goal of enhancing trade efficiency, operational transparency, and coordinated border management across Nigeria.

In line with the theme of the celebration, goodwill messages delivered at the event underscored the critical importance of cooperation among security and regulatory agencies in strengthening national security, improving service delivery, and accelerating economic growth.
The launch of the Time Release Study, a globally recognised tool for measuring cargo clearance efficiency, highlighted the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to streamlining trade processes, reducing delays, enhancing transparency, and aligning Nigeria’s port operations with international best practices.

Observers noted that the presence of the Nigeria Police Force at the event further demonstrated its unwavering support for inter-agency synergy and its role in providing a secure environment that enables lawful trade, economic stability, and national development.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its resolve to continue supporting initiatives that promote effective border management, public safety, and sustainable economic growth, in collaboration with sister agencies and strategic partners.
