The Police Service Commission (PSC) has raised the alarm over a fake recruitment shortlist circulating on social media, warning thousands of applicants seeking entry into the Nigeria Police Force not to fall victim to fraudsters exploiting the ongoing recruitment exercise.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Head, Protocol and Public Affairs (Spokesman), Police Service Commission, Abuja, Torty Njoku Kalu, the Commission dismissed as false a purported list claiming to contain names of candidates shortlisted for medical examinations.
According to the PSC, no shortlist has been released for the next stage of the recruitment process, stressing that the evaluation of the written examination is still at its concluding stage.
The Commission explained that successful applicants would be notified through official channels, including email, SMS, the recruitment portal, npfapplication.psc.gov.ng, and other verified communication platforms of the Commission once the assessment process is completed.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, the PSC stated that it remains dedicated to a merit-based recruitment process, noting that the effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force depends largely on the quality of personnel recruited into the service.
The Commission urged applicants and members of the public to disregard the fake list and remain vigilant against individuals seeking to exploit them through misinformation and fraudulent schemes.
It further emphasized that all information concerning the ongoing recruitment exercise would be communicated exclusively through its verified channels.
The PSC also reiterated that the recruitment exercise is completely free at every stage and advised applicants not to pay money to anyone under any guise.
