The Ogun State Police Command has arrested no fewer than 146 suspects in a coordinated security operation in Sagamu, even as the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, warned against unlawful assembly and violent protests.
The Command said the arrests were made under its ongoing security initiative, “Operation Keep Sagamu Safe,” following recent disturbances in the area.

Addressing journalists through the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the CP declared that the Command would not tolerate any act capable of breaching public peace.
“The Ogun State Police Command will not tolerate any form of unlawful assembly, violent protest, or actions capable of disrupting public peace and order,” he said.
“While citizens have the right to express grievances, such expressions must be carried out within the ambit of the law.”
The police explained that the crisis began on April 7, 2026, when commercial motorcycle operators blocked the Oba Erinwole GRA Road in Sagamu, obstructing movement.
The situation later escalated as the protesters moved to the Vehicle Inspection Office and TRACE Office in Sotubo, disrupting activities, including at the Sotubo Health Centre.

According to the Command, 10 principal suspects linked to the incident were earlier arrested and charged to court.
The CP further disclosed that a follow-up intelligence-led raid conducted in the early hours of April 13 led to the arrest of 146 suspects across identified criminal flashpoints.
The operation involved a joint team comprising the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Amotekun Corps, Ogun State Community Security (So-Safe) Corps, and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria.
“All suspects are currently undergoing screening, and those found culpable will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abeokuta, for thorough investigation and prosecution,” he added.
Ojajuni warned that there would be no hiding place for criminal elements, stressing that the Command remains operationally prepared to deal decisively with any form of lawlessness.
