Security Chiefs Intensify Border Operations, Conduct Show of Force Along Ogun-Ondo Corridor

Security agencies in Ogun State have intensified efforts to secure the Ogun-Ondo border corridor with a high-level joint operational assessment and show of force aimed at consolidating the gains of Operation Kosaye and tightening security across vulnerable communities.
The exercise was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, who said the operation was coordinated by the Ogun State Police Command in collaboration with other security agencies and key government stakeholders.
The joint assessment, led by the Security Consultant to the Ogun State Governor, CP Edward Ajogun (Rtd.), and the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, also featured the Commander, 35 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General J.O. Onu; the Director, Department of State Services (DSS), Ogun State Command, Director R.A. Adelakun, the Ogun State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo; Commander of the Ogun State Security Network (Amotekun Corps), Brigadier General Alade Adedigba (Rtd.); the State Commander of So-Safe Corps, Commander (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo; as well as the Executive Chairmen of Ijebu East, Ijebu North East and Ogun Waterside Local Government Areas.
The operation covered strategic communities along the Ijebu Ode-Ore Expressway, traversing J2, J3, J4, Itele, Atoyo, Agerige, Ogbere, Ibiade, Iwopin and Abigi before terminating at Ajebandele, the boundary community between Ogun and Ondo states.
According to the statement, the joint security team assessed critical locations and vulnerable areas, reviewed operational requirements, evaluated terrain and environmental factors affecting security operations, and strengthened inter-agency coordination.
The exercise also provided an opportunity to engage stakeholders to improve intelligence gathering and encourage community participation in crime prevention.
The show of force, the statement added, was designed to reassure residents, commuters and motorists of the readiness of security agencies to protect lives and property, sustain security dominance within the corridor and respond swiftly to emerging threats. It also underscored that the Ogun-Ondo border remains under continuous surveillance and coordinated inter-agency monitoring.
Speaking after the exercise, CP Bode Ojajuni commended the cooperation among participating security agencies, government officials and stakeholders, reaffirming the command’s commitment to sustained joint operations, enhanced intelligence sharing, the deployment of modern policing technology and stronger collaboration with communities to combat crime across Ogun State.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely, credible and actionable information to security agencies, stressing that effective policing can only be achieved through active partnership between law enforcement agencies and the public
