President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Tony Onyemaechi Elumelu on his birthday, describing him as a driving force in Africa’s economic transformation and youth empowerment.
In a State House press release, the President commended Elumelu’s contributions to enterprise development across Nigeria and the continent.
Tinubu described the Chairman of Heirs Holdings, United Bank for Africa, and Transcorp as “an African business icon” whose influence continues to shape economic growth.
“The President commends the Heirs Holdings chairman for his resilience, the excellence that governs his entire enterprise, and his steadfast belief in Africapitalism,” the statement said.
The President also highlighted the far-reaching impact of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, particularly its entrepreneurship programme, which has trained over 2.5 million young Africans and funded more than 24,000 entrepreneurs.
Analysts say such large-scale interventions are critical to addressing unemployment and stimulating inclusive growth across Africa.
Tinubu joined Elumelu’s family, friends, and associates in wishing him continued good health and success.
