Nigeria’s public speaking community has recorded another milestone as top talents emerged at the Area 32 Toastmasters International Speech and Evaluation Contests.
The contest, held on March 28, 2026, brought together speakers from across Division G of District 130.
Toastmasters, a global organisation founded in 1924 by Ralph C. Smedley, is known for building communication and leadership skills.
The organisation was established to help individuals overcome fear and gain confidence in public speaking.
From its humble beginnings at a YMCA in Santa Ana, it has grown into a global network spanning over 100 countries.
Today, Toastmasters has impacted millions of people worldwide through its structured training programmes.
In Nigeria, the organisation operates under District 130, covering 12 countries in West and Central Africa.
The country currently has three divisions, including Division C in Abuja, Division D in Lagos, Port Harcourt and Uyo, and Division G across several northern cities.
At the contest, Amalaonye Josephine Kachikwu emerged winner of the International Speech Contest.
Queen Nwachukwu came second, while Mohammed Buka secured third position.
In the Evaluation Contest, Queen Nwachukwu took first place, followed closely by Kachikwu and Mohammed Buka.
The winners are expected to represent Area 32 at the Division G contest scheduled to hold in Abuja on April 18, 2026.
A win at that level will qualify them for the District 130 contest in Gabon in May.
The eventual winner will represent Africa at the global stage in Vancouver, Canada, in August 2026.
Organisers said the success of the contestants reflects the core values of purpose, passion, and preparation.
