Troops arrest terrorist kingpin, ammunition courier, logistics supplier in Kaduna

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested a suspected terrorist kingpin, an ammunition courier and a suspected logistics supplier in separate operations across Kaduna State.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt Col Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
Danja said the arrests were carried out on September 9, 2026, during intelligence-led and clearance operations conducted by troops of Sector 1 in different locations in Kaduna State.
He said troops first conducted a clearance operation in Dabar Dabo, a known terrorist hideout in Kubau Local Government Area, where they arrested a suspected terrorist kingpin and two other members of his syndicate.
According to him, the suspects were apprehended at their hideout and are currently in military custody for further investigation.
Danja said troops, acting on credible intelligence about the movement of terrorist ammunition, also arrested a 50-year-old female ammunition courier in Igabi Local Government Area.
He said 300 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the suspect, who allegedly concealed them in a bag.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had travelled from Zamfara State to Lafia, where she received the ammunition for onward delivery to terrorists in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State,” Danja said.
He added that the suspect and recovered ammunition had been taken into military custody for further investigation.
Later the same day, Danja said troops of Sector 1, working with a community vigilante group, apprehended a suspected terrorist logistics supplier in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area.
During interrogation and a search of the suspect, four communication devices suspected to have been used by terrorists were recovered.
Danja said the suspect and recovered items were also in military custody as investigations continued.
He described the arrests and recovery of ammunition as further evidence of the troops’ commitment to disrupting terrorist networks and denying criminal elements freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.
“The series of successes recorded is a testimony to the unwavering commitment of troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist networks, deny criminal elements freedom of action, and prevent the movement of arms, ammunition and other logistics across the Joint Operations Area,” he said.
The Media Information Officer appreciated members of the public for their continued support and urged them to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
