Troops of Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have disrupted an illicit drug supply network in Borno State, arresting a 65-year-old suspected drug dealer linked to Boko Haram terrorists.
The Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, said, “Troops under Operation DESERT SANITY V recorded significant success in degrading terrorist logistics and criminal support networks in the North East.”
He stated, “Acting on credible intelligence on January 23, 2026, troops arrested Hauwa Abulazeez in Askira Uba Local Government Area.”
According to him, “The suspect is alleged to be one of the suppliers of cannabis sativa to Boko Haram elements operating across several communities.”
Uba disclosed, “She allegedly supplied the substance through Askira Uba, Rumirgo, Gwahi, Wamdiyo, Uvu and Gaya.”
He added, “Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect sourced the drugs from Sarti Baruwa in Taraba State and transported them through established routes.”
He said, “Fourteen compressed blocks of cannabis sativa, weighing about 30 kilograms, were recovered during the operation.”
The military spokesman noted, “This interception represents a major disruption intended to sustain illicit and violent activities.”
Uba further revealed, “The suspect is currently in custody undergoing preliminary investigation.”
He explained, “Follow-up actions are ongoing to identify and dismantle the wider trafficking network.”
According to him, “Disrupting these supply chains reduces criminal influence and improves security conditions.”
He stated, “It also reinforces lawful authority and order across the region.”
Uba assured residents, “Operation HADIN KAI remains unwavering in confronting all forms of criminality.”
He said, “Through sustained intelligence-driven operations, troops will continue denying criminal networks space and resources.”
The spokesman concluded, “The operation will persist until enduring peace and stability are achieved in the North East.”
