Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have sustained high-tempo offensive operations against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists across Borno State, recording major operational gains through clearance missions, fighting patrols and blocking operations. The sustained pressure has resulted in terrorist neutralisation, destruction of enclaves and the surrender of fleeing fighters.
In a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, troops operating under Operation DESERT SANITY V on 10 January 2026 intensified operations along the Azir–Wajiroko axis, compelling 11 terrorist fighters to surrender. The terrorists surrendered with their AK-47 rifles and assorted ammunition, following overwhelming military pressure.

Earlier, on 9 January 2026, OPHK troops carried out extensive clearance operations in the Bulaagalda cluster, where several active terrorist enclaves and camps were destroyed at Dagumba, Bonne, Yaganari, Gosuri and Umchile, including the notorious Abu Nazir and Abu Ahmed camps.
During the operations, troops dismantled terrorist life-support structures, degraded logistics chains and recovered items including terrorist flags, weapons and magazines.
Similar offensive actions in the Yale and Bula Gaida areas forced terrorists to flee, leading to further destruction of logistics facilities and the recovery of arms, ammunition and a general-purpose machine gun.

In a related intelligence-led operation, troops engaged JAS/ISWAP elements between Sojiri and Kayamla villages, neutralising eight terrorists and recovering AK-47 rifles.
Additionally, two suspected terrorist logistics collaborators were arrested in Gubio Local Government Area for supplying logistics to terrorist elements.
The military reaffirmed its resolve to maintain sustained offensive pressure, dismantle remaining terrorist networks and restore lasting peace and security across the North East region.
