The Theatre Commander, Operation HADIN KAI, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, has restated the commitment of the Nigerian Army to intensify operations against insurgents in the North-East.
He spoke on Saturday at the Combined West African Social Activity (WASA) 2025 held at the Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.

Abubakar said the event provided an opportunity for troops to review their operations and strengthen unity.
“The event offers us the opportunity to reflect on our operational engagements over the past year,” he said.
He disclosed that significant progress had been made in restoring peace in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states.
“The relative peace being enjoyed today is the result of the commitment and sacrifice of our personnel,” he stated.

The Theatre Commander thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, and the Service Chiefs for their support.
“We have received improved logistics and welfare support, which has boosted morale,” Abubakar said.
He assured that the military would sustain pressure on terrorist groups in the region.
In his remarks, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, represented by SSG Bukar Tijjani, commended the Army for its resilience.

“The Borno State Government will continue to collaborate with the military to ensure lasting peace,” he said.
The governor sympathised with families of deceased soldiers and prayed for injured personnel.
Also speaking, the GOC 7 Division, Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu, thanked stakeholders for their support.
