The Ogun State Police Command on Wednesday witnessed a major boost in personnel morale as 430 junior police officers were decorated with new ranks, in what police authorities described as a reflection of the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to rewarding diligence, professionalism, and dedicated service.
The promotion exercise, conducted across the CommandHeadquarters and other police formations in Ogun State, was presided over by the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, who commended the welfare-driven leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for prioritising the career growth and wellbeing of officers.

A breakdown of the exercise showed that six Sergeants were promoted to the rank of Inspector, four Corporals advanced to the rank of Sergeant, while 420 Constables were elevated to the rank of Corporal.
Speaking during the decoration ceremony, CP Ojajuni described the promotion as more than a routine administrative exercise, noting that it represents recognition of hard work, dedication, and sacrifices made by officers in the service of the nation.

According to him, the elevation of personnel underscores the Inspector-General’s unwavering commitment to improving officers’ welfare, motivating the workforce, and ensuring that deserving officers are rewarded for their contributions to maintaining law and order.
The police commissioner noted that timely promotion remains a vital tool for boosting morale and enhancing productivity within the Force, adding that motivated personnel are better positioned to discharge their constitutional responsibilities effectively.

He congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to regard their advancement as a call to greater responsibility, discipline, and professionalism.
“Promotion comes with higher expectations and greater responsibilities. You must continue to uphold the values of integrity, dedication, and selfless service that earned you this recognition,” he charged.

CP Ojajuni further reminded the officers of the need to respect human rights, adhere strictly to the rule of law, and maintain the highest ethical standards in their interactions with members of the public.
The Commissioner also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to prioritising personnel welfare and supporting reforms aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and operational effectiveness.
He stated that the Ogun State Police Command would continue to align with initiatives designed to improve service delivery, enhance professionalism, and promote excellence in policing in line with global best practices.

The promotion exercise is expected to further strengthen the morale of officers within the Command and reinforce the Force’s drive towards building a more motivated, efficient, and people-centred police institution.
The statement was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, ANIPR, and made available to journalists in Abeokuta on Wednesday.
