Living an extraordinary 108 years, the revered patriarch from Agugwu-Mpu in Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State leaves behind not just years, but a lifetime of impact woven into generations.
Described by family members as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and community pillar, the late Chief Onuoha-Mba’s journey reflects a rare blend of wisdom, humility, and service. His story is one of quiet strength of a man who witnessed history unfold across more than a century and remained a guiding light within his family and community.
In a statement released by the family, they noted that his passing is not only a moment of grief but also an opportunity to celebrate a life “well lived,” marked by love, discipline, and deep-rooted values that continue to shape those he leaves behind.
Funeral arrangements released by the family outline a three-day series of events to honour his memory. The wake keep is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at his residence, beginning at 5:00 p.m., where friends, neighbours, and well-wishers will gather to pay their last respects.
This will be followed by the funeral service, interment, and reception on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at his residence located within the Mbamara Farm Complex, Agugwu-Mpu. The ceremony is expected to draw dignitaries, community leaders, and loved ones from far and near, as they bid farewell to a man whose life spanned generations.
A thanksgiving service will round off the rites on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at the Matthias Ekwere-madu Memorial Methodist Church in Mpu, beginning at 9:00 a.m., offering an atmosphere of gratitude for a life that embodied faith and purpose.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Prince (Engr.) Michael Onuoha-Mba noted that their father’s legacy is anchored on love, unity, and wisdom values that will continue to guide the family long after his passing. He emphasized that while his departure creates a void, it also leaves behind a blueprint for purposeful living.
