The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has intensified efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s border security framework with a strategic visit to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Headquarters in Abuja.
Disu, who paid the courtesy visit on April 21, 2026, said robust inter-agency collaboration remains critical in tackling cross-border crimes and safeguarding national security.

He stressed that effective border control and seamless intelligence integration are key to addressing emerging security threats, especially those with transnational dimensions.
According to him, the Nigeria Police Force is committed to deepening cooperation with the NIS through enhanced coordination mechanisms, joint training programmes, and real-time intelligence sharing.

The police boss noted that such synergy would significantly improve operational effectiveness and strengthen Nigeria’s overall security architecture.
Responding, the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nanna Nandap, commended the IGP for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of commitment to national security cooperation.
She disclosed that the Service has sustained collaboration with the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) in Nigeria, particularly in border management, intelligence exchange, and tackling transnational crimes.

Nandap reiterated the readiness of the NIS to continue working closely with the police and other security agencies to enhance national safety.
The police said it remain committed to strengthening inter-agency synergy in advancing national security.
