The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex Lagos, Simeon U. Akpanudom, has issued a stern warning to officers and men of the department to uphold professionalism, discipline and strict adherence to due process in the discharge of their duties.
The AIG gave the directive during a general lecture and strategic meeting with sectional heads and officers held at the FCID Annex, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos.
The meeting focused on operational efficiency, administrative discipline and institutional integrity within the department.

In a major anti-corruption directive, Akpanudom announced an immediate ban on the operation of Point of Sale (POS) outlets within the FCID premises and surrounding areas.
According to him, the decision aligns with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
He warned that POS activities around police facilities compromise operational security and could be exploited to facilitate corrupt practices.
“Such activities are incompatible with the security and operational integrity of the facility and are often exploited to facilitate corrupt practices,” the AIG stated.
Akpanudom also directed that all intelligence reports must undergo thorough vetting and verification by sectional heads before submission.
He charged supervisory officers to intensify monitoring of personnel to ensure compliance with professional and ethical standards.
On operational matters, the AIG declared that land-related disputes should no longer be entertained by the department, stressing that officers must strictly adhere to established investigative procedures in handling criminal matters.

Addressing issues of discipline and public conduct, he warned officers against acts capable of tarnishing the image of the Nigeria Police Force.
“The Nigeria Police Force must always project a positive and credible image before the public,” he said.
Akpanudom further urged officers and men to respect hierarchy and maintain the established chain of command in carrying out their responsibilities.
Aligning himself with the reform agenda of the Inspector-General of Police, the AIG reiterated that acts of unprofessional conduct would attract disciplinary sanctions.
He encouraged officers to remain committed to integrity, accountability and national service.
