The Federal Ministry of Works has signed fresh multi-billion naira contract agreements for the execution of major road projects across Kaduna, Oyo, Ogun and Osun states as part of the Federal Government’s renewed infrastructure drive.
The contract signing ceremony, held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mabushi, Abuja, involved four construction firms expected to handle strategic highway projects aimed at boosting transportation, economic activities and national integration.
The projects include the reconstruction of the Mando–Birnin Gwari Road in Kaduna State by J. Patel and Sons Nigeria Limited, dualisation of the Ibadan–Ijebu Ode Road by JRB Construction Company Limited, construction of the Osogbo–Ikirun–Akoda Road by Truecrete Solutions Limited, and the Osogbo–Iwo–Ibadan Road by Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Limited.
Speaking during the event, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, described the projects as critical national infrastructure designed to improve connectivity and stimulate economic growth.

He noted that the reconstruction of the Mando–Birnin Gwari Road was one of the major commitments made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2022/2023 election campaigns.
“Our vision is to build roads that will last for generations,” Umahi declared.
“Under the Renewed Hope administration, we are determined to deliver infrastructure that can serve Nigerians for up to 100 years through the adoption of rigid pavement (concrete) technology.”
The minister stated that all the projects would be executed using Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement technology as part of efforts to ensure durability, sustainability and long-term value.

Umahi also commended the selected contractors for their track records and competence, stressing the Federal Government’s growing confidence in indigenous construction firms.
He particularly praised JRB Construction Company Limited and Truecrete Solutions Limited for previous performances on national infrastructure projects.
The minister directed all contractors to immediately mobilise to site and commence work without delay.
“We expect measurable progress within the stipulated timelines,” he warned.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Rafiu Olarinre Adeladan, said the signing ceremony marked the completion of procurement processes and the commencement of project execution.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to effective monitoring, quality assurance and timely delivery of projects nationwide.
Also speaking, the Director of Highways, Construction and Rehabilitation, Clement Ogbuagu, disclosed that the Mando–Birnin Gwari Road project would cost ₦178.1 billion and cover 122 kilometres.

According to him, the Ibadan–Ijebu Ode Road dualisation project was awarded at ₦295.9 billion for 114.5 kilometres, while the Osogbo–Ikirun–Akoda Road project would cost ₦101.8 billion for 70 kilometres.
