The Anambra State Police Command has rescued an unconscious man abandoned along the Onitsha/Owerri Road in Okpoko and paid second-term school fees for five outstanding pupils in a dual humanitarian intervention aimed at strengthening public trust and promoting education in the state.
Police Operatives attached to the Okpoko Division reportedly discovered the yet-to-be-identified elderly man lying unconscious beside Dozzy Filling Station during a routine foot patrol and immediately rushed him to a hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention.
According to a statement issued by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, Awka, he said efforts are ongoing to identify the victim and reunite him with his family.

Residents with useful information about his identity, family, or place of residence were urged to report to the Okpoko Police Division or contact the Command.
In a related development, the Command also fulfilled a promise made during activities marking the National Police Day celebration by paying the second-term school fees of five pupils who excelled academically in their respective classes.
The initiative, the Police said, is part of efforts to encourage academic excellence, support education and promote nation-building in Anambra State.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reaffirmed the commitment of the Police to not only maintaining law and order, but also supporting programmes that positively impact the lives of Ndi Anambra, particularly the younger generation.
The Command further assured residents of its resolve to sustain people-oriented policing initiatives that foster compassion, trust and community development.
