The Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN), Dr Adamu Abubakar Dabban, has commended the publication of two agricultural books aimed at strengthening knowledge and practical capacity in crop protection and management across Nigeria.
Dabban spoke on Thursday, at the launch of the books at Haske Luxury, Governor’s Hall, Minna, Niger State, where he described the publications as a valuable contribution to agricultural research, education and improved farming practices.
The two books, authored by Dr Saidu Adamu Paiko, are Applied Plant Pathology and Crop Disease Management in Nigeria: A Practical Manual for Students in Agriculture and Major Crop Pests of Nigeria: Identification, Biology and Integrated Management.
According to a statement by the Head of the Public Relations Unit of ARCN, Khadijat O. Ameen, Dabban commended Paiko for contributing practical knowledge to the country’s agricultural research and education sector.
The ARCN boss stressed that effective identification and management of crop diseases and pests were essential to improving agricultural yields, protecting farmers’ investments and strengthening Nigeria’s food security.
He encouraged students, researchers, extension officers, farmers and other agricultural practitioners to take advantage of the publications as valuable resources for learning, research and the adoption of improved farming practices.
Dabban congratulated Paiko on the achievement, describing the books as a meaningful contribution to the advancement of agricultural knowledge and capacity development in Nigeria.
The ARCN Executive Secretary reaffirmed the importance of research-driven knowledge in addressing challenges confronting crop production and improving agricultural productivity across the country.
