Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force at the Area ‘M’ Command in Idimu have achieved a significant breakthrough by arresting two domestic workers in connection with a ₦118 million theft in Ikeja, Lagos. The suspects, Togolese nationals Agbohunon Micheal, 25, and Agbohunon Eric, 22, are alleged to have conspired with a female housemaid currently at large to steal luxury items and cash from their employer, Olarewaju Moshood. The theft, which occurred at Alfred Garden Estate on August 5, 2025, included a Rolex wristwatch, expensive gold jewelry, a Samsung Galaxy smartphone, and a substantial amount of cash.
Upon receiving the victim’s complaint, the Area Commander, ACP Tokunbo Abaniwonda, immediately mobilized a team of investigators. By utilizing CCTV footage and forensic evidence, the team, led by Inspector Fagbohunbe Raphael, successfully tracked and apprehended the suspects. During the investigation, the defendants provided confessional statements, leading to the preparation of a comprehensive case file for prosecution.
The suspects were subsequently arraigned before the Ogba Magistrate Court on charges of conspiracy and stealing under the Lagos State Criminal Law. Both defendants pleaded guilty to the charges. Consequently, the court ordered their remand at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre and adjourned the proceedings until December 15, 2025, for the formal presentation of facts and sentencing.
This successful operation underscores the increasing effectiveness of the Area ‘M’ Command under the leadership of ACP Abaniwonda. Known for prioritizing rapid-response investigations, accountability, and evidence-led policing, the Area Commander continues to strengthen the command’s reputation as a proactive force in combating urban crime across Lagos.
