The Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have reaffirmed their commitment to deeper inter-agency collaboration as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture and tackle emerging security threats across the country.
This was disclosed by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Onyechi Appolonia Anele, during a courtesy visit by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedo, to the Army Headquarters in Abuja on Monday.
Speaking during the visit, Anele said the evolving nature of security challenges demands stronger cooperation among security and intelligence agencies through enhanced intelligence sharing, coordinated operations, strategic communication and institutional support.
She congratulated Iniedo on his appointment as Force Public Relations Officer and reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to sustaining its partnership with the Nigeria Police Force.
According to her, the collaboration aligns with the Chief of Army Staff’s command philosophy of transforming the Nigerian Army into a more professional, adaptive, combat-ready and resilient force capable of operating effectively within a joint and multi-agency security framework.
Anele noted that closer cooperation between the two institutions would further strengthen ongoing operations against terrorism, insurgency, banditry, kidnapping and other forms of criminality, while also boosting public confidence in the country’s security architecture.
In his remarks, Iniedo commended the Nigerian Army for its professionalism, sacrifices and operational successes in joint security operations across the country.
The police spokesperson said the long-standing partnership between the Army and the Police has contributed significantly to improving internal security, adding that stronger collaboration between the public relations departments of both organisations would enhance strategic communication, counter misinformation and promote a unified national security narrative.
The meeting ended with both agencies reaffirming their commitment to sustaining closer inter-agency cooperation in support of the Federal Government’s efforts to improve security nationwide.
