Commissioner of Police, Simeon Udofia Akpanudom, has continued to stand out as a seasoned law enforcement officer, with a career spanning over three decades marked by professional excellence, strategic leadership, and international exposure.
Born on August 4, 1967, in Ukana Ikot Ntuen, Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Akpanudom joined the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP). Since then, he has risen through the ranks to become a respected figure within the force.
A highly educated officer, Akpanudom holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and Regional Planning from the University of Calabar, an Advanced Certificate in Industrial Safety and Control from the University of Port Harcourt, and a Master’s degree in Security and Strategic Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna. He is also a Fellow of the Defence College and holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) in Leadership from Leadimpact University, Denver, Colorado, USA.
Throughout his career, he has attended several high-level professional courses, including the Strategic Leadership Command Course, the Higher Defence Management Course at the National Defence College, Abuja, and specialized training in intelligence-led operations, election security management, and conflict mitigation.
Akpanudom’s career trajectory reflects extensive operational and administrative experience. He has served in multiple capacities across various states, including Rivers, Bauchi, Cross River, Anambra, and Lagos. His roles have ranged from Divisional Police Officer (DPO) to Area Commander, and from Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations and investigations to his current position as Commissioner of Police, Anti-Fraud, at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos.
Notably, he also served in the United Nations Mission in Kosovo, earning international recognition for his contributions to peacekeeping operations.
His outstanding service has attracted numerous honours and commendations, including the Inspector-General of Police Sword of Honour as the best all-round Cadet ASP, United Nations Medal (UNMIK), and multiple awards as best graduating participant in key police leadership courses.
A member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and the Society for Peace Studies and Practice, Akpanudom is widely regarded as a committed professional dedicated to the advancement of policing standards.
