The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the murder of the President-General of the Ogidi community and another person in a violent incident linked to suspected cult activities.
The incident occurred on the evening of February 6, 2026, at the School Field in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the killings were allegedly connected to the recent arrest and killing of a notorious cultist in the area.
“The incident is allegedly linked to the recent capture and killing of a known notorious cultist within the community,” Ikenga stated.
He disclosed that police operatives immediately took over the scene and launched a full-scale investigation.
“Following the report, our operatives swiftly took over the scene of the incident and commenced investigations,” he said.
According to him, the Command is currently working with eyewitness accounts and intelligence reports to track down the suspects.
“We are working with eyewitness accounts and other available intelligence to identify and arrest the perpetrators,” Ikenga added.
The police spokesman assured residents that efforts were being intensified to ensure justice.
“All efforts are being intensified to bring those responsible to justice. We urge residents to remain calm and cooperate with the police,” he said.
He promised that further updates would be communicated as investigations progress.
