The Delta State Police Command has arrested 11 suspected cultists and armed robbers in an intensified crackdown on violent crimes across the state.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe revealed that the operation followed a directive by the Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, after recent cult clashes and killings in Ughelli and other communities.

Edafe explained that operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team carried out the intelligence-led operations.
According to him, two suspects, Warri Ochuko and Lucky Okohwoake, were first arrested in Ughelli North Local Government Area.
He said their confessional statements led to the arrest of six additional suspects across the metropolis.

Edafe disclosed that a locally made gun and four live cartridges were recovered from the suspects.
He stated that preliminary investigations showed that the suspects belonged to the Supreme Vikings Confraternity.
“The suspects confessed to their involvement in the killing of Alex Adanike on January 15, 2026,” Edafe said.
He added that in another operation in Sapele, three suspected criminals were arrested at a hideout in Irapa area.
Recovered items, he said, included a wooden pistol, battle axe, bulletproof vest, illicit drugs and a Toyota Venza vehicle.

Edafe noted that investigations were ongoing to unravel other criminal networks.
He assured residents of the command’s commitment to eradicating cultism and violent crimes.
