Former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Godwin Elumelu, has urged Muslims to use the Eid ul-Mawlid celebration to reflect on the virtues and teachings of Prophet Muhammad.
Elumelu, in a goodwill message to Muslims in Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, Delta State and Nigeria, congratulated the Muslim faithful on the annual commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet.
He described the occasion as an opportunity for Muslims and other Nigerians to reflect on the Prophet’s life and values, particularly humility, patience, compassion, tolerance, love and peaceful coexistence.
The APC candidate urged the Muslim faithful not to limit the celebration to festivities but to demonstrate the virtues associated with Prophet Muhammad in their daily lives and relationships.
According to him, the Prophet’s teachings on peace, justice, compassion and concern for the vulnerable remain relevant to the task of building a united, peaceful and prosperous society.
Elumelu called on Muslims to use the occasion to reach out to the poor, less privileged and vulnerable members of society, stressing that caring for others was an important way of demonstrating the values taught and practised by the Prophet.
“The commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad should inspire us all to reflect deeply on his exemplary life and imbibe the virtues of humility, patience, compassion, tolerance, love and peaceful coexistence which he demonstrated throughout his life,” he said.
He also urged Nigerians to use the occasion for prayers over the challenges facing the country, particularly for peace, security, stability and national unity.
Elumelu called on the Muslim faithful to continue praying for the success of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Delta State Government led by Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori.
He said peace and good governance were essential to achieving sustainable development and improving the welfare of Nigerians.
The former Minority Leader assured the people of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency of his continued commitment to initiatives that would promote peace, development, progress and good governance in the constituency, Delta State and Nigeria.
He expressed optimism that through collective prayers, responsible leadership, mutual respect and commitment to the welfare of citizens, Nigeria would overcome its challenges and emerge stronger and more prosperous.
Elumelu wished the Muslim faithful a peaceful and spiritually rewarding Eid ul-Mawlid celebration, praying for renewed hope, blessings and unity among families and communities.
“May the blessings of this occasion abide with you and your families. I wish the Muslim Ummah in Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, Delta State and Nigeria a happy and peaceful Eid ul-Mawlid celebration,” he said.
