The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Headquarters, Lagos, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has reaffirmed his commitment to professional policing, rule of law and respect for fundamental human rights.
Jimoh gave the assurance when he received the National President of the Ilorin Emirates Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Assistant Comptroller-General of Immigration, ACG A. A. AbdulMalik (retd.), and other members of the union during a courtesy visit to the zonal headquarters.
The delegation commended the AIG for his distinguished career, professionalism and contributions to the development of Ilorin, his hometown, as well as his leadership in maintaining peace and security across Lagos and Ogun states.
AbdulMalik praised Jimoh as a disciplined, principled and dutiful police officer whose conduct, according to him, reflected the values of good character and responsible citizenship.
He attributed some of the AIG’s qualities to his secondary education at Barakat Community Secondary School, Ilorin, Kwara State, established by IEDPU.
The IEDPU president said the school was founded not only to promote academic excellence but also to instil moral discipline, sound societal values and exemplary character in its students.
He expressed confidence in Jimoh’s ability to continue discharging his responsibilities with diligence and integrity while upholding the rule of law.
Responding, Jimoh thanked the IEDPU leadership and members of the delegation for the visit and the goodwill extended to him.
The AIG acknowledged the union’s longstanding interest in his career and expressed appreciation for its continued support and encouragement.
He said the recognition was not only an honour but also a reminder of the responsibility attached to public service.
Jimoh reaffirmed that he would discharge his constitutional responsibilities professionally and in accordance with the rule of law, respect for fundamental human rights, justice and fairness.
He also assured that justice would be pursued without fear or favour, irrespective of an individual’s social status, position or class.
The AIG said Zone 2 Headquarters would continue to work with relevant stakeholders to safeguard lives and property, maintain public order and promote a safe and secure environment for residents of Lagos and Ogun states.
