The FCT Police Command has announced restriction of movement across the Federal Capital Territory on Saturday, February 21, 2026, ahead of the Area Council elections.
In a statement issued Friday, and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh,, the Commissioner of Police, Miller G. Dantawaye, said the restriction will be enforced from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. across the territory.
According to him, the directive is aimed at ensuring security, public safety and a credible electoral process.
The police explained that the restriction will apply to all residents except essential service providers and duly accredited election officials.
The command urged residents to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security agencies during the exercise.
“Residents are advised to remain peaceful and support security personnel deployed for the election,” the police said.
The command also encouraged members of the public to report suspicious movements or activities through its emergency lines.
The CP assured residents that adequate security arrangements have been put in place to safeguard voters, electoral officials and election materials.
