In a move aimed at strengthening morale and rewarding excellence, the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Formoso has honoured outstanding personnel and celebrated officers, ratings and civilian staff born between April and June, as part of efforts to enhance welfare and operational effectiveness.
The event, tagged Run Ashore and Second Quarter Birthday Celebration, was held on Friday, July 17, 2026, in line with the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS)’s directive on personnel welfare.
It featured the presentation of awards to the Best Rating and Best Civilian Staff of the Month, recognising personnel for their exemplary performance and dedication to duty.

The gathering brought together officers, ratings and civilian staff of FOB FORMOSO in a relaxed atmosphere that encouraged interaction across departments, strengthened teamwork and fostered closer interpersonal relationships. The initiative, according to the Base, is expected to further enhance cohesion and improve operational effectiveness.

Speaking at the event, the Commanding Officer of FOB FORMOSO, Capt SK Haruna, commended officers, ratings and civilian staff for their unwavering dedication and commitment to duty. He described the initiative as part of the Chief of the Naval Staff’s deliberate efforts to improve personnel welfare, reward excellence and create a conducive and efficient working environment.

Capt Haruna stressed that hard work never goes unnoticed, urging personnel to remain focused and committed to the discharge of their responsibilities.

He also congratulated the award recipients and birthday celebrants, encouraging them and other members of the Base to sustain the high standards of professionalism expected of them.
