Troops Free Nine Kidnap Victims, Recover 56 Stolen Animals, Nab Terror Suspect

Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued nine kidnapped victims, recovered 56 rustled livestock and arrested a suspected terrorist in separate operations across Katsina State.
The latest successes came as security forces intensified offensives against terrorists and other criminal elements operating in the North-West.
A statement by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, said troops of Sector 2 rescued the nine victims during a fighting patrol in Faskari Local Government Area.
The victims, comprising three women, four men and two children, were reportedly kidnapped on July 9 along the Tsafe-Kuchere Road in neighbouring Zamfara State.
According to the military, the victims escaped from the terrorists’ hideout after their abductors fell asleep before they were found and rescued by troops.
The victims are currently receiving necessary care ahead of their reunion with their families.
In another operation, troops foiled an attempt by terrorists to rustle livestock in Bakori Local Government Area.
The gunmen opened fire on the advancing soldiers but fled after being overpowered, abandoning 56 animals, including four cattle and 52 sheep.
The military said the recovered livestock would be handed over to the appropriate authorities after due process.
Troops also arrested a suspected terrorist during routine operations in Danmusa Local Government Area.
Items recovered from the suspect are believed to have links with terrorist activities, while investigations are ongoing.
The Theatre Commander of Operation FANSAN YAMMA commended the troops for their courage and professionalism, assuring residents that military operations against terrorists and other criminal groups would continue until lasting peace is restored across the North-West.
