The Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP-NG) has declared support for Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 governorship election, citing the need to sustain ongoing development projects and consolidate progress across the state.
The guild made its position known in a statement issued on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Tochukwu Eluwa, stressing the importance of continuity in governance while urging the state government to strengthen accountability, inclusive development and service delivery.
GOMEP-NG noted that Oborevwori’s administration was pursuing its M.O.R.E Agenda, which stands for Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security.
According to the guild, continuity in governance could provide an opportunity to complete ongoing projects, deepen institutional reforms and sustain programmes aimed at improving the livelihoods of residents across Delta State.
However, it stressed the need for development to reach all parts of the state, calling for equitable distribution of projects and opportunities across the three senatorial districts and 25 local government areas.
The guild also identified youth empowerment, employment, education, healthcare and security as priority areas requiring sustained attention, particularly in riverine communities.

As political activities ahead of the 2027 elections gather momentum, GOMEP-NG urged political stakeholders to prioritise issue-based campaigns, peaceful engagement and respect for democratic institutions.
It also called on online media practitioners to uphold accuracy, fairness and responsible journalism while placing the public interest at the centre of their reporting.
While backing Oborevwori’s second-term ambition, the guild emphasised that public confidence in government must be sustained through transparency, accountability, measurable results and responsiveness to citizens’ needs.
It said a second term should provide an opportunity to consolidate existing achievements, address outstanding challenges and advance sustainable development across the state.

GOMEP-NG further urged voters to make informed decisions in 2027 based on candidates’ performance, policy priorities and plans for the state’s long-term development.
The guild also called on political actors to demonstrate maturity and restraint throughout the electoral process and respect the rule of law.
