A former governorship aspirant in Edo State, High Chief Jacob Egietseme Idinye, has congratulated the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, on the extension of his tenure by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Idinye, in a statement personally signed on Saturday, said the tenure extension was well deserved in view of Adeniyi’s achievements in customs administration, revenue generation, trade facilitation and anti-smuggling operations.
He described the Customs boss as a disciplined and transparent public servant whose leadership had strengthened the Nigeria Customs Service.
The Edo politician also commended President Tinubu for retaining Adeniyi, saying the decision would ensure continuity in ongoing reforms and institutional development within the service.

According to him, Adeniyi’s commitment to accountability was recently demonstrated when the Senate Public Accounts Committee cleared him and the NCS of allegations relating to an alleged N62.2 billion under-remittance query.
Idinye said the outcome further reinforced public confidence in the Customs leadership.
He also praised welfare initiatives introduced under Adeniyi’s administration, including collaboration with Songhai Health Trust to enable officers access healthcare services through the National Health Insurance Scheme.

The former governorship aspirant further applauded Adeniyi’s introduction of the Customs Care Programme, which provides educational support to schools and students through the distribution of learning materials.
He said Adeniyi’s leadership as Chairman of the World Customs Organization had continued to project Nigeria positively on the global stage.
Idinye expressed confidence that the Customs boss would sustain ongoing reforms and continue contributing to national development and economic growth.
