The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has charged newly trained soldiers of the 90 Regular Recruit Intake to be decisive in confronting terrorists and other criminal elements while maintaining professionalism and respect for human rights in the discharge of their duties.
According to Colonel Appolonia Anele, Acting Director Army Public Relations, the Army Chief gave the charge on Saturday during the Passing Out Parade of the recruits at Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria, Kaduna State.

Shaibu noted that the recruits had undergone rigorous military training, including Counter-Terrorism and Counter-Insurgency operations, and were now adequately prepared to contribute to ongoing efforts aimed at safeguarding national security.
The COAS stressed that the new soldiers would play a critical role in ongoing military operations across the country, adding that the Nigerian Army remained determined to deny terrorists and other criminal groups safe havens.

He, however, emphasized that all military operations must be conducted in strict compliance with the Rules of Engagement and the Law of Armed Conflict.
The Army Chief also acknowledged the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, in enhancing the operational capabilities of the military.

According to him, Nigerians expect the newly inducted soldiers to exhibit discipline, operational excellence and unwavering loyalty to the Constitution.
Shaibu further warned against the misuse of social media, noting that unprofessional online conduct and unauthorized disclosure of information could jeopardize operational security and undermine efforts to tackle insecurity.

Reaffirming the Nigerian Army’s commitment to protecting lives and property, he expressed confidence that the new soldiers would contribute significantly to sustaining ongoing offensives aimed at restoring peace, stability and security across the country.
