The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Tuesday led officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force on a walkathon in Abuja as part of activities marking the 2026 National Police Day celebration.
The walk, which commenced from the Force Headquarters to the Unity Fountain, drew participation from police personnel and members of the public in what authorities described as a show of unity and shared responsibility for national security.

The event, themed “Together We Walk, Together We Secure,” was aimed at promoting peace, strengthening community partnership, and encouraging closer collaboration between the police and the citizens.
Police authorities said the walkathon is being replicated across commands and formations nationwide as part of efforts to enhance physical fitness among officers while deepening trust and cooperation with the public.

The National Police Day celebration is an annual event designed to highlight the role of the police in maintaining law and order, while fostering stronger ties between the force and the communities they serve.
