IGP Disu Storms Cybercrime Centre, Pushes Tech-Driven Policing Against Digital Threats
In a bold move to tighten Nigeria’s fight against cybercrime, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Tuesday paid an operational visit to the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre in Abuja.
The visit was aimed at evaluating ongoing operations at the Centre and strengthening its capacity to tackle emerging digital threats across the country.
During the inspection, the police chief stressed the growing importance of technology-driven policing in modern law enforcement, noting that cybercrime has become one of the most pressing security challenges of the digital age.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to boosting cyber intelligence, expanding digital forensic capabilities, and adopting proactive strategies to prevent online crimes before they occur.
The visit underscores renewed efforts by the Force leadership to modernise policing systems and equip officers with advanced tools needed to confront internet fraud, identity theft, financial scams, and other cyber-enabled crimes.
