Infantry Corps commander commissions projects, lauds 4 Brigade’s operational readiness

The Commander Infantry Corps (CIC), Major General Godwin Mutkut, has commended Headquarters 4 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Benin City, for its proactive operational posture and administrative achievements during an operational assessment visit to the formation.
According to Captain Kennedy Anyanwu, Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 4 Brigade, the visit, held on Saturday, saw the Infantry Corps commander commission several completed infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and troops’ welfare.
Addressing officers and soldiers, Major General Mutkut conveyed the goodwill message of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, and praised the troops for their loyalty, discipline, resilience, professionalism and dedication to duty.
He urged personnel to remain committed to their constitutional responsibilities while upholding the core values and ethics of the Nigerian Army.
The Infantry Corps commander also stressed the importance of maintaining strong family values, noting that a stable home front contributes significantly to effective military service. He commended the Brigade for sustaining a robust operational posture that has continued to improve security and preserve peace across Edo State.
During the visit, Mutkut commissioned a number of projects executed by the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun. They include the remodelled Brigade Conference Room, a new Brigade Operations Room, Brigade Sick Bay, an ultra-modern Fire Point, Quarter Guard, and the newly constructed 4 Brigade Mascot and Fountain.
He described the projects as landmark achievements that would boost operational effectiveness, improve troops’ welfare and provide a more conducive working environment.
The senior officer also praised Brigadier General Balogun for his leadership and commitment to implementing the Chief of Army Staff’s command philosophy through infrastructure development and effective command.
In his remarks, Brigadier General Balogun thanked the Commander Infantry Corps for the operational assessment visit and the encouragement extended to officers and soldiers of the Brigade.
He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to protecting lives and property, maintaining high professional standards, discipline and operational excellence in line with the Nigerian Army’s mandate.
The visit featured the commissioning of projects, inspection of facilities within the Nigerian Army Cantonment, Ekehuan, Benin City, an interactive session with officers and soldiers, and the presentation of souvenirs.
