The Lagos State Police Command has moved to calm fears over a circulating threat notice warning of a planned bandit attack and abduction of schoolchildren, assuring residents that there is no verified intelligence indicating any imminent security threat in the state.
The Command, in a statement issued by SP Abimbola Adebisi, Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Ikeja, on June 8, 2026, said it had taken the matter seriously and immediately activated enhanced security measures around the affected area and other strategic locations across Lagos to safeguard schools, communities, and critical infrastructure.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, directed an immediate assessment of the situation and ordered watertight security arrangements to prevent any potential security breach.

The police said personnel had been deployed in collaboration with other security agencies to strengthen surveillance and maintain public safety, stressing that Lagos remains secure despite the circulation of the alleged threat notice.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting residents, warning that it would not tolerate attempts by criminals to undermine peace and security in the state.
“The Command will not tolerate any attempt by miscreants, bandits, kidnappers, or other criminal elements to threaten the peace and safety of residents,” the statement noted, adding that anyone found engaging in activities capable of causing fear, panic, or insecurity would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
While urging residents to remain calm and avoid panic, the police encouraged members of the public to stay vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information.
The Command emphasized that effective policing depends on strong collaboration between security agencies and the public, urging residents to promptly report suspicious persons, objects, movements, or activities through the nearest police station or the Command’s emergency lines.
