The Lagos State Police Command has arrested five suspected telecommunication vandals and recovered a truckload of suspected stolen iron rods in the Ibeju-Lekki axis of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, SP Abimbola AdeBisi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday, saying the arrest was part of the command’s intensified efforts to curb vandalism and theft of critical infrastructure across the state.

The suspects were identified as Mohammed Shaibu, 26; Musa Zakari, 29; Abdullahi Bala, 22; Salisu Musa, 18; and Yahuza Bala, 20.
According to AdeBisi, the suspects were allegedly caught stealing iron poles meant for the construction of telecommunication masts before they were arrested while conveying the materials in a truck.

She said the suspects were currently in police custody, while investigation into the case was being conducted by the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.
The PPRO added that discreet investigation was ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects and determine the full extent of the alleged criminal activities.
AdeBisi said the command appreciated the 81 Division, Nigerian Army, for its cooperation and synergy, which she said contributed significantly to the operation and arrest of the suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting critical infrastructure and ensuring that perpetrators of vandalism were brought to justice.
Fatai also urged residents to promptly provide credible information about suspicious activities in their communities.
