Lagos Police Lead Peace Walk, Launch Campaign Against Political, Digital Thuggery

The Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday led a peace walk to mark the 2026 International Youth Day and launched a campaign against political and digital thuggery.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, led the walk, which was organised in line with this year’s International Youth Day theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.”
The initiative, according to the Command, followed the vision and directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to strengthen police-community partnerships and engage young people as critical partners in promoting peace, security and national development.
The peace walk brought together youth groups and other stakeholders, including representatives of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Civil Rights Advocacy Network (CRAN) and National Association of Online Security and Peaceful Neighbourhood (NAOSNP).
The Command said the initiative was aimed at sensitising young Nigerians to the dangers of political and digital thuggery, drug abuse, cultism and hooliganism.
It added that the campaign would also promote peaceful coexistence, responsible citizenship and constructive youth participation in efforts to build a safer society.
The engagement formed part of efforts by the police to deepen collaboration with young people and other stakeholders in tackling security challenges.
