A high-powered oversight visit to the Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday put the spotlight on the ongoing police recruitment screening, as Taiwo Lakanu (Rtd) called for strict adherence to integrity and transparency in the exercise.
Lakanu, who serves as Chairman of the Committee on All Police Matters and Commissioner representing the South-West at the Police Service Commission, arrived at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja on a supervisory mission tied to the nationwide recruitment process.
During the visit, the retired DIG commended the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, for what he described as proactive policing efforts and effective security management across the state.

He, however, stressed the need for members of the screening committee to maintain the highest standards of discipline, professionalism, and fairness, noting that the credibility of the recruitment exercise depends heavily on transparency.
Lakanu said his presence in Lagos was part of his mandate to oversee the screening process and ensure that only qualified candidates are selected without compromise.
Responding, Jimoh expressed appreciation for the visit and pledged the Command’s full support to the Police Service Commission in delivering a smooth, credible, and hitch-free recruitment exercise.

The visit was attended by senior officials including Omolara Oloruntola and Abdulwasiu Kayode Bawa-Allah, among others.
