The Network of Nigerian Maritime Journalists (NNMJ) has congratulated the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Dr Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, on his birthday, praising his leadership and reforms within the Service.
The congratulatory message was contained in a statement released on Monday, January 19, 2026, and signed by NNMJ Chairman, Elder Dele Aderibigbe, and Secretary, Moses Ebosele.
The journalists described Adeniyi’s birthday as an opportunity to assess a period of significant institutional transformation at the Nigeria Customs Service.
According to the Network, the Comptroller-General provided firm leadership at a time when the Service required strategic direction.
It said Adeniyi successfully repositioned the NCS, restoring confidence internally and projecting Nigeria positively on the global stage.

The group noted that his election as Chairman of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) marked a historic moment for Nigeria in international customs administration.
NNMJ said the Customs boss introduced far-reaching reforms that have strengthened revenue collection and operational efficiency.
It highlighted the B’odogwu indigenous reform initiative, which it said has boosted revenue inflow to the Federal Government.
The journalists recalled President Bola Tinubu’s recent commendation of Adeniyi’s performance.
“CGC Adeniyi’s leadership has contributed to improved community relations, consistent surpassing of revenue targets, stronger trade partnerships and enhanced border security,” President Tinubu was quoted as saying.
According to the Network, these achievements reflect the importance of purposeful leadership in national economic management.
The statement concluded with prayers for continued strength and wisdom for the Comptroller-General as he leads the Nigeria Customs Service.
