NAF, Operation HADIN KAI deepen media collaboration to counter terrorist propaganda

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have strengthened their partnership on strategic communication as part of efforts to enhance national security and counter terrorist propaganda.
According to the Acting Military Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the renewed commitment was reaffirmed on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, to the Headquarters of Operation HADIN KAI in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Receiving the delegation, the Theatre Commander, Operation HADIN KAI, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, described strategic communication as a vital element of modern military operations, stressing that coordinated messaging and inter-agency cooperation are essential to sustaining the gains of counter-terrorism efforts.
He said effective communication helps shape public perception, counter terrorist propaganda, deny criminal elements the information space and sustain public confidence in ongoing military operations across the North-East.
Abubakar commended the Nigerian Air Force for its professionalism and continued support to joint military operations, noting that closer collaboration among security agencies would further strengthen national security.
Speaking during the visit, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame said stronger synergy in strategic communication among the Armed Forces and other security agencies had become imperative in tackling misinformation and disinformation.
He said harmonised communication, sustained media engagement and the timely dissemination of credible information through responsible media organisations would reinforce public trust while projecting a unified national security narrative.
Ejodame explained that the visit was aimed at deepening collaboration between the Nigerian Air Force and Operation HADIN KAI to ensure accurate, timely and coordinated communication on military operations and other national security issues.
Both senior officers reaffirmed their commitment to using strategic communication as a force multiplier in ongoing operations, stressing that proactive media engagement and the prompt release of verified information remain critical to denying terrorist groups opportunities to exploit the information environment.
They also noted that sustained collaboration among security agencies and state-owned media would help consolidate operational gains, strengthen civil-military relations and support lasting peace, security and national development.
The visit was attended by the Air Component Commander, Operation HADIN KAI, Air Commodore Buba Ahmed; the Chief of Staff, Headquarters Operation HADIN KAI, Brigadier General Sani Ahmed; Component Commanders, Principal Staff Officers and other senior military officers.
Activities during the visit included the inspection of a Quarter Guard, the signing of the visitors’ register, exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph.
